O Christmas Tree

Posted by mindyluwho in

I started this quilt about 4 1/2 years ago with the idea that it would be finished in time for Christmas...ha ha ha, ha, ha, (or rather ho, ho, ho!). Christmas came that year and it was not done. Another Christmas passed by ...and then another ...and another. Each year I progressed a little, but I despaired at ever finishing it!

Finally this year the wait is over. It is finished and hanging in a prominent place in my living room where it is sure to get lots of oooohhh's and aaahhhh's.

I sit and stare at it daily, relishing it with my eyes and remembering the hours of quiet stitching as tree by tree it came to fruition. (If you click on the picture it will blow it up and you can see it in greater detail.)

I might keep it up all year.

Are you going to start on the one that Mom began now??!! Good job at finishing it. It is beautiful in the picture, but it would be lovely to see the stitching and details in person. How big is it?

No, I'm not going to finish the one Mom started, I don't have it and I'm not sure who does. She was handquilting a pre-printed fabric panel. I don't have the patience for handquilting! This is hand appliqued, which I do enjoy doing and then machine pieced and machine quilted. It's 48"x48".

I LOVE it! I bet it feels great to finally have it finished. The time and work you put into this quilt was worth it. It is beautiful!

That is so incredibly beautiful! I am seriously impressed. As much impressed with the finishing as with the quilting!
